The Guachoya Cultural Art Center in Lake Village will host a reception to honor Vicki Wade Murray for her exhibit of paintings and photography.
The reception will be held on Thursday, September 8 from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. There is no admission and the public is invited to attend. The exhibit will be up until October 26.
Murray retired to the Mississippi Delta after a 40 year career as a manager, trainer and interior designer in the retail furniture industry. She worked for companies such as Ethan Allen, Bassett and Haverty’s.
After retirement and living in a small town she said needed something to do, so she went out and purchased canvas and paint and decided she would paint. Since then, she has attended various workshops and is now producing award winning paintings. Her favorite styles of painting are contemporary and abstract. Murray is also an award winning photographer.
Guachoya is located at 1652 Hwy. 65 & 82 in Lake Village. Hours of operation are Tuesday through Thursday from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information call 870-265-6077.
