H. Leon Wood, 68, of Hamburg, died on August 15, 2016 at his residence.
A native of Dermott and resident of Hamburg for the past 44 years, Mr. Wood was a 1966 graduate of Crossett High School and a veteran of the United States Navy who served during the Vietnam conflict.
Mr. Wood worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation, paper mill, for 46 years, retiring in 2013. He was a family man and loved his grandchildren. He was an animal lover and enjoyed working in his yard.
Hewas preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Lee and Elizabeth Kilcrease Wood and a brother, Lloyd Wood.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Debra K. Hill Wood; a son, Jason Wood and wife, Jeannie, all of Hamburg; two brothers, Lawrence Wood and wife, Nancy, of Petal, Mississippi and Lewis Wood and wife, Kay, of Crossett; two sisters, Patti Brantley and husband, Alvin, of Harrison and Pam Smith and husband, Harold, of Crossett; two grandchildren, Jaisley and Joel Wood and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is August 16 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg.
Graveside services will be held on August 17 at 10 a.m. at the Hamburg Cemetery with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating.
