A Hamburg man was killed Saturday morning in a single vehicle accident on U.S. 82 in rural Ashley County, according to State Police.
James Randall Rial, 71, was fatally injured around 8:59 a.m. when the 2003 Toyota he was driving crossed into the oncoming lane and ran off the highway before traveling into a ditch and hitting an embankment. After impact, the vehicle went airborne, crossed a private drive and continued west in a ditch before coming to a final stop, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary accident report.
The weather was rainy and cloudy and the road was wet when the accident occurred.
At least 13 people have died as a result of crashes on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
