Hannah Burnett of Star City will attend the University of Arkansas at Monticello next fall as the 2014 recipient of the Gerald and Sue Majors Scholarship.
Burnett is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johnny Burnett, a 2014 graduate of Star City High School and will be a first-time freshman at UAM.
The Gerald and Sue Majors Scholarship is awarded annually to one Star City High School graduate who plans to attend UAM. The recipient is selected based on academic background, a minimum grade point average of 3.5, work ethic and professional potential.
The scholarship, which is valued at $12,800, pays toward the cost of tuition, mandatory fees, on-campus room, board or books and is renewable for up to eight semesters. The award is named for Star City natives Gerald and Sue Majors, who currently live in White Hall.
The first Majors Scholarship was presented in 2005. Each academic year there are four UAM students receiving the award.
