Harold James Hollis, 66, of Fountain Hill, died December 20, 2013 as the result of an automobile accident.
Mr. Hollis was a native of Bradley County and a resident of Fountain Hill for most of his life. He retired from Georgia-Pacific Paper Mill in 1995 after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Eden Baptist Church. He loved helping his friends and neighbors. He often took his friends to the doctor and would lend a helping hand when needed.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dillard & Hazel Stanley Hollis; two brothers, W.L. “Dub” Hollis and J.D. Hollis.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ilene Kelley Hollis of Fountain Hill; four daughters, Hazel Hollis of Hamburg, Sherri Strecker of Winnsboro, Louisiana, Rose Hatten of Monroe, Louisiana and Charlotte Margolis and husband, Michael, of Nashville, Tennessee; a son, John Dye of Crossett; three brothers, Ralph Hollis of Fountain Hill, Jack Hollis of Huntsville, Alabama and Paul Hollis of Blytheville; 9 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel on December 23 at 2 p.m., with Rev. Bill Elton and Rev. Terry Kelley officiating. Burial will be at the Zion Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Terry Hollis, Michael Margolis, Brian Kelley, Mike Kelley, Jay Kelley and Chris Choate.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles Ralph Hollis and Rev. Terry Kelley. Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House, 1009 Wolfe Street, Little Rock, AR 72202.
