University of Arkansas-Monticello head baseball coach John Harvey was named the Great American Conference Coach of the Year while Jordan Johnson was named the GAC Freshman of the Year.
Harvey led the Weevils to a finish as the league’s regular-season champions for the first time in program history.
Johnson hit .333 and ranked third in the GAC with 11 home runs. He added 48 RBI, tied for the sixth-best mark in the conference.
Brian Ray was named to the All-GAC First Team outfield and Sean Wagner and Andres Rios were named to the All-GAC First Team infield. Ray, the 2017 GAC Championship MVP, ranked second in on-base percentage (.471) after he drew a league-leading 48 walks. Wagner tallied 70 hits 60 RBI during the regular season and Rios hit .348 and his 51 RBI ranked third in the conference.
In 2018, the GAC introduced an All-Defensive Team to its postseason honors. Garrett Dodd (shortstop), Brian Ray (centerfield), and Brady Weiss (catcher) were named to the All-Defensive Team.
Dodd and Weiss also made the All-GAC Second Team.
The Honorable Mention All-GAC Team included three from UAM.
Dylan Borman as the designated hitter, Jordan Johnson at third base and Dawson Moser as the relief pitcher.
Nicholas Duthu was recognized as a GAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete.
