Helen Lorraine Hays, 100, a longtime resident of McGehee, passed away on October 1, 2018 at Mountain View Health and Rehabilitation in Mountain View.

She formerly worked at Birch’s Jewelry Store and volunteered for many activities at McGehee schools. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of McGehee and enjoyed crocheting and working in her yard and flower garden.

Mrs. Hays was born in Florence, Arkansas to the late James Earl and Ola Harper Hoover.

Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. Hays; a son, Larry Hays; a grandson, Greg; a sister, Mignon Henley; and a brother, Royal Hoover.

Survivors include her daughter, Betty Corder and her husband Bill of Mountain View; grandchildren, Chris Hays, Ryan Corder and Lance Corder; great-grandchildren Josh Hays, Jarrod Hays, Jacob Hays and Jordan Hays; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 4 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service of McGehee.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 5 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in McGehee. Burial will follow at Mt. Tabor cemetery in Drew County.
