Helen Louise Reed, 88, passed away on October 9, 2014 at Lake Village Rehab and Care Center in Lake Village.
She was the dietician for Eudora Public Schools for 33 years and was an excellent cook. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Eudora.
Mrs. Reed was born on January 23, 1926 in Eudora and was the daughter of the late Floyd and Lottie Brewer Ashley.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Reed, Sr.
Survivors include her sons, Jack Reed and wife Leah of Eudora, Bob Reed and wife Linda of Jonesboro, and Bill Reed and wife Sue of Conway; daughters, Helen Louise Purvis and husband Eddie of Kilbourne, Louisiana and Betty Murphy and husband Danny of Carrollton, Mississippi; brother, Freddie Ashley of Eudora; sister, Dorothy Fletcher of Houston, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be held October 11 from 11 a.m. until noon at the New Hope Baptist Church in Eudora. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., following visitation, at the church with Revs. Fred Gay and James Kitchens officiating. Burial will be held at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora.
