Rev. Herbert Vanemeter Miller, 70 of Crossett, formerly of New Orleans, La., passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013 at the University of Arkansas Medical Center in Little Rock.
He was a New Orleans native, had lived in Crossett for the past eight years, was a retired truck driver and was a member of Hunters Chapel Baptist Church. He enjoyed carpentry and remodeling his home.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Miller, two brothers, Felton Ray and Robert Bert Miller.
He is survived by his wife of nine years, Dorothy Williams Miller; three sons, Herbert Miller of Ft. Worth, Texas, Marvessik Miller, wife Angelle of Bridge City, La., and Barry Miller of Canton, Miss.; one step-son, Juan Seals, wife Alyse of Snelleville, Ga; four daughters, Cynthia Morris, husband Michael of Foxworth, Miss., Jessica Miller of Jackson, Miss., Mariah Faith Miller of Atlanta, Ga., Tanya Scott, husband Cassius of New Orleans, La.; one step-daughter, Samira Rankin, husband Darrin of Kingwood, Texas; his mother, Betty Velma Jackson Miller of Gray, La.; one brother, Edward Miller, wife Meeklyn of New Orleans, La.; one sister, Beverly Williams of Gray, La.; twenty-three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a host of other family, loved ones and friends.
Funeral services are Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 1 p.m. at New Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Wilton Baines, officiating. Pallbearers are Ray Martin, James Martin, Lee Fred Brown, Tommy Moore, Melvin Moore & Earnest Smith. Burial in Providence Memorial Park Cemetery in New Orleans, La. Viewing from 11 am to 6 pm Friday, November 8, 2013 at Cromwell Funeral Home of Hamburg.
