Hermitage Mayor Billy Gorman will not be charged for carrying firearms on the Hermitage school campus, according to 10th Judicial District Prosecutor Thomas Deen.

“I didn’t find any evidence that he intended to use the firearms as a weapon on the campus,” Deen said.

Gorman very politely declined comment last month on allegations that there was a handgun and a rifle in his vehicle when he went to the school to meet with the school superintendent about some sort of incident about a school bus.

Bradley County Sheriff Rick Anders said Gorman told him that he wasn’t aware it was unlawful to carry firearms on a school campus.
