Homer Cogbill, 85, of Star City, died February 13, 2015 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.
He was born September 14, 1929 in Star City to the late James Harold and Bess Skinner Nuckolls Cogbill.
Mr. Cogbill was a member of First Baptist Church in Star City, where he served as Sunday School Secretary for over 40 years. He was a Seaman First Class with the United States Navy. He was a 1947 graduate of Star City High School and a 1951 graduate of Arkansas A&M. He was the owner of Cogbill Motor Company in Star City and later worked at Smart Chevrolet. He served on the Democratic Central Committee for several years, served with the Star City Fire Department, was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner and was a member of Lucky 13 Hunting Club.
Survivors include his wife, whom he married October 2, 1951, Patricia Lawrence Cogbill of Star City; 1 son, Michael (Michele) Lawrence Cogbill of North Palm Beach, FL; 1 daughter, Cynthia (Scottie) Cogbill Grimes of Dumas; 2 grandchildren, Patricia Talmadge Harris of Germantown, TN and Scott David Grimes of Memphis, TN; 1 great grandchild, Jeffrey Joseph Harris, Jr.
Funeral services will be held February 16 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Star City with Bros. Marcus Rogers and Dennis Dodson officiating. Visitation will be February 15 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Service. Burial will be at Heflin Cemetery.
