Homer Lamar May

Homer Lamar “Buddy” May, 75, of Lake Village, passed away on August 31, 2017 at VA Medical Center in Little Rock.

He served in the United States Army and retired after numerous years of service. He was the recipient of many awards including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, two Purple Hearts with OLC, Bronze Star Medal, OS Bars (3), RVN Cross of Gallantry with Palm, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), Army Commendation Medal, and Korea Defense Service Medal. He was a member of the VFW.

Mr. May was born on December 3, 1941 in Lake Village and was the son of the late Homer L. May and Marie Pharr May Hopper.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Ervin Hopper, and two sisters, Dimple Cooler and June Wright.

He is survived by his son, Lamar (Dawn) May of Houston, Texas; a brother, Ronnie (Sherrie) May of Oscar, Louisiana; three sisters, Mary Carolyn Springer of Fort Smith, Martha (Charles) Turner of Sheridan, and Janie (Tim) Sampolesi of Lake Village; three grandchildren, Roxanna, Rebecca and Babak Roozbeh, and host of nieces, nephews, and friends that will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Monday, September 4 from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. with funeral services following at 2 p.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Village. Reed Breedlove will officiate.
