[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]A man who is being treated at a hospital for multiple gunshot wounds was served Friday with an arrest warrant in connection with a fatal shooting Sunday night in Monticello.
Myron Briggs, 40, of Monticello, is suspected of first-degree murder and felonious possession of a firearm in the shooting death of 46-year-old Eric Thompson, also of Monticello.
The shooting occurred at 11:30 p.m. at a residence on South Gabbert where the two men allegedly fired shots at each other. Both Thompson and Briggs received multiple gunshot wounds, according to Monticello Police Chief Eddy Deaton.
Monticello District Judge Sara Hartness set Briggs’ bond at $500,000.
Briggs was still in the hospital Friday afternoon.
