Hubert Lamar Heflin, Sr., 92, of Jackson’s Gap, Alabama, formerly of Monticello, passed away May 2, 2021, at his home in Jackson’s Gap.
He was born March 14, 1929, in Monticello Arkansas to the late Ed Heflin and Mary Mays Heflin. His wife, Bettye Davis Heflin also preceded him in death.
Mr. Heflin was a licensed imaginer, inventor, visionary, and member of First Assembly of God Church. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, football, woodworking and gardening. He was a founding member of the UAM Sports Association and loved watching his beloved Weevils play.
Survivors include his children, Alma Lynn Heflin of Monticello, Diane Heflin Hammett of Monticello, Hugh Heflin, Jr. and wife Julia Berry Heflin of Dadeville, Alabama and Kellye Heflin Foster and husband Ivy Foster, Jr. of Benton, Louisiana; one brother, Tom Heflin of Rockford, Illinois; one sister, Charlotte Heflin Ellena of Rockford, Illinois; and five grandchildren, Todd Hammett, Trey Heflin, Rachael Jones, Jon Ira Hammett and Isaiah Foster; and six great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Saturday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel in Monticello. There will be a visitation one hour preceding the service at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello.
