Human remains discovered in late December belong to a Drew County man missing since 2015, according to the Drew County Sheriff’s Office.
The partial skeletal remains, identified through dental analysis by the state Crime Lab, were identified as those of Barry Harmon.
The 36-year-old Drew County man was reported missing on January 6, 2015 after he failed to return from hunting in a wooded area near his residence on Hayden Loop Road in northern Drew County.
A large-scale, three-week search for Harmon after he went missing were not successful. Six years later, on December 27, 2021, a Drew County man discovered the partial remains along a shooting lane in a wooded area where the man hunts.
In the days following the discovery, the Drew County Sheriff’s Office conducted two separate searches covering a large area where the partial remains were found. A cadaver dog from south Louisiana was used to assist with one of the searches. No additional remains were found but future searches will be conducted, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
