University of Arkansas at Monticello quarterback Hunter Leppert was named the Great American Conference Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Weevils to a road win over Southern Nazarene on Saturday.
Leppert completed 20-of-37 passes in the win for 323 yards and three touchdowns. It was his third 300-yard passing performance of the season and the second time this season he has thrown three touchdowns.
The Minden, Louisiana native also rushed for a net of 31 yards on 10 carries. He led the GAC in passing yards and total offense for the week.
Leppert threw touchdown passes to three different receivers on Saturday. His first was an 18-yard toss to senior Ivory Washington to put UAM up 13-9 at the 3:30 mark of the second quarter. His second was a 74-yard catch-and-run by junior Cody Bordelon at the 9:14 mark of the third quarter to give UAM a 23-16 lead. His final touchdown toss of the game put UAM on top by its final margin with a 40-yard throw to junior Trey Taylor with 7:27 remaining in the game.
Overall this season, Leppert has completed 130-of-215 passes for 1,503 yards with 10 touchdowns and only one interception. He ranks 40th in the country and third in the GAC in passing yards per game, and 43rd nationally in total offense.
This is Leppert’s second time in his career to earn GAC player of the week honors. He was the league’s first-ever offensive player of the week in 2011.
