She was a member of Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church in Palmyra, a gold star mother and a member of the VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary. She was a homemaker and was a retired childcare provider for many years, taking care of many of Star City’s children over the course of many years.
Mrs. Harrison was born November 19, 1925 in Lincoln County to the late Earl and Elvie Owen Wimberly.
Also preceding her in death were her husband, Samuel “Sammy” Reed Harrison; son, Sammy Ray Harrison; two daughters, Vickie Moran and Janell McKinzie; two brothers, J. T. Wimberly and Earl Von Wimberly; a sister, Bonnie Puckett; a granddaughter, Kelly Burns, and a grandson, Shawn McKinzie.
Survivors include son, Robert (Lana) Harrison of Malvern; two daughters, Jan Jenkins and Lena Carter, both of Star City; sister, Dorothy Williams of Cabot; nine grandchildren, Falissa Miller, Sammy Carter, Brook Butt, Becca Wallace, Reed Harrison, Alex Jenkins, Brandy White, Shelly Miller and Cameron McKinzie; and 16 great-grandchildren, Slayde, Sami, Brock, Peyton, Logan, Gharett, Reagan, Rylan, Chris, Ryan, Bailey, Haley, Emma, R. J., Olivia and Presley.
Visitation is Tuesday, May 14 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Home in Star City.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 15 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Thomas McGriff and Bro. Jerrod Pettit officiating. Burial will be at Drake Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Starsky Weast, Kenny Moran, Terry Robertson, Harry McKinzie, Thomas Shelby and Jeff Ratterree. Honorary pallbearers are John Taylor Towers and Caleb Walker.
