Imogene Mitchell, 81, of Hamburg, died Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at The Woods of Monticello Health and Rehabilitation Center in Monticello.
Mrs. Mitchell was a native and life long resident of Hamburg. She was a homemaker, a Home Health Care Worker and a member of the Liberty Missionary Baptist Church. She was an avid bird watcher and enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time outdoors.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Clyde Dale Mitchell, Sr. in 2002; her parents, Elsworth and Inez Allison McGilton; two brothers, Kenneth & Glyn McGilton and a sister, Fran Gifford.
She is survived by four sons, Clyde (Butch) Mitchell, Jr., and wife, Kathy, of Dierks, David Mitchell and wife, Reba, of Monticello, Randy Mitchell and wife, Paulette, and Eugene Mitchell and wife, Robin, all of Hamburg; three daughters, Rebecca Hewitt and husband, Ed, of Hornbeck, Louisiana; LaFran Kirkland and husband, Danny, of Hamburg and Sandra McManus and husband, Mike, of Ladelle; a brother, Noel Dean McGilton of Hamburg; three sisters, Mary Gifford and Audrey Kelley both of Hamburg and Shirley Carter of Willis, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on August 15 at 10 a.m. at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. Clyde Mitchell and Danny Kirkland officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jimmy Mitchell, Robert Gifford, Monty Brooks, Kevin McGilton, Chris McGilton and Eddie Hewitt. Honorary pallbearers are her grandsons.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., August 14 at the funeral home.
