A man who escaped from the McGehee jail last week was arrested early Friday morning in Sulphur Springs Texas.

Jeremy Lynn Barnett, 40, of Arkansas City, was arrested by U.S. marshals, members of the Arkansas Department of Community Corrections Joint Fugitive Task Force and the Sulphur Springs Police Department after they received information that Barnett was at a residence in Sulphur Springs.

Barnett, who was being held at the McGehee jail on a parole violation while awaiting bed space at Arkansas Department of Correction, escaped on October 8 after making a hole in a fence in the jail’s outside recreation area then crawling through the hole.

He is currently being held in Sulphur Springs where he is awaiting extradition to Arkansas.
