The Greater Delta Alliance for Health, a 10-hospital network in Southeast Arkansas, will sponsor a free 2016 Health Insurance Enrollment and Renewal event at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello on January 13 between noon and 5 p.m.
As part of the GDAH Delta Patient Assistance Program, one-on-one counseling will be available to all Drew County and Southeast Arkansas residents needing assistance to enroll for or renew their 2016 health insurance. The event will be held in the hospital’s board room.
The GDAH is a recognized Certified Assistance Counselor (CAC) organization and currently has six CAC’s to assist patients and residents.
“We are here to help anyone with open enrollment in the Healthcare Marketplace, Private Option, Medicare Part D, Medicare Supplement and Medicare Savings Program applications,” said event coordinator and CAC Vermar King. “There is no charge for the service and we work in the best interest of the consumer without steering them to a specific plan.”
Individuals unable to sign up by the January 31 open enrollment deadline may qualify for special enrollment periods allowing them to enroll past the open enrollment period. “This would be due to certain life events, like getting married, having a baby, losing other coverage or a reduction in income,” King said. “We can help determine if they qualify so the individual is not penalized for missing the deadline.”
Depending on the program for which residents are enrolling, certain forms of ID and other sources of information are mandatory.
“Everything that an applicant needs to bring with them to the event, like Medicare, Social Security cards, check stubs or tax returns, can be found on our website, gdaharkansas.com, or by contacting me,” King said. “We are here to make the process as easy as possible, to answer questions about your current plan and explore all the options available in 2016.”
King is also available for other free patient services every Monday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Services include Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) enrollment, prescription assistance and providing resources on health services and additional information on GDAH and other local programs. The GDAH service office is located in the Medical Records Department.
