Irma Yolanda Roberts (Portillo Becerra), 64, of Hamburg, passed away on October 31, 2021 at her residence.
She was born on March 14, 1957 in Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Mrs. Irma, as she was lovingly known, retired from Georgia Pacific Plywood Mill and worked at Medlin’s Metal where she made lifelong friends. She was a native of Hamburg since 1989. She previously lived in Crossett and Beekman.
Irma was a talented seamstress, animal lover, and prided herself in her work ethic, her home and her family. Her no-nonsense attitude was admired by many, and she always enjoyed a good joke and time with family. She loved to host and cook for anyone who visited her. Her grandchildren fondly remember meals at Mima’s. As a devout Catholic. she never missed an opportunity to thank God for her many blessings and share a prayer with and for anyone.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Margarita Becerra de Portillo of Chihuahua, Mexico; her sister, Martha Hernandez of Three Creeks, Arkansas, and a nephew Richard Portillo of Ellisville, Mississippi.
She is survived and dearly missed by her father, Leonardo Portillo Balderrama of El Dorado; her children, Veronica Martinez of Crossett, Manuel “Manny” Monrreal (Helen) of El Dorado, Irma Yolanda Portillo of New York, and Darwin Troy “Darren” Roberts of Hamburg; her grandchildren, Kerstin Margarita Mondragon (Elias) of Crossett, Victor Manuel Martinez (Maria) of Crossett, Oracio Guadalupe Martinez of Crossett, Carmyn Marie “Carmelita” Monrreal of El Dorado; her first great-grandchild Jimena Evette “Jimmie” Martinez of Crossett; and her siblings, Leonardo Portillo, Poli Portillo, Richie Portillo, Jose Portillo, Martin Portillo, Lola Elias, Maggie Goff, and Griselda Dorman and a host of nieces and nephews.
Irma made a lasting impression on everyone who met her. She will be missed.
Visitation is Friday, November 5 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Hamburg. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 6, at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home with Father Stephen Hart officiating.
Pallbearers are Darwin Roberts, Manny Monrreal, Irma Portillo, Victor Manuel Martinez, Oracio G. Martinez and Elias Mondragon. Honorary Pallbearers are Leonardo Portillo, Poli Portillo, Ricardo Portillo, Jose Portillo and Martin Portillo.
Interment is in Pinewood Memorial Park.
