J.B. Hutton, Jr., 77, of Dermott, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in the line of duty, while serving with the Dermott Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a lifelong TV repairman who moved back to Dermott in 1970 and served on the Dermott Fire Department for over 40 years and was currently the Assistant Fire Chief. Mr. Hutton was an avid coin collector and loved refurbishing antique jeeps. He loved spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Hutton was born on September 1, 1937 and was the son of the late J.B. Hutton, Sr. and Helen Marie Brookins Hutton.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Shelby Jean Lockhart Hutton; sons, Dave Whittenberg and his wife Susan of Conway, Keith Hutton and his wife Melissa of Monticello; daughters, Pam Greene of Conway, and Angela McBride and her husband Brent of McGehee; a brother, Herman Hutton of Dermott; a sister, Helen Ruth DenHerder of Belmont, Michigan and nine grandchildren.
Visitation is October 4 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee.
Funeral services will be held October 5 at 2 p.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Dermott, with Rev. Bob Franklin officiating. Burial will be held at Dermott Cemetery.
