McGehee standouts Steven King and Michael Risner sign with UAM

University of Arkansas at Monticello head football coach Hud Jackson has released the list of 14 high school seniors who have signed National Letters of Intent to play football for the Boll Weevils starting in the 2013 season. The 2013 UAM high school signing class consists of seven players from within the state of Arkansas, six from Louisiana and one from Tennessee.


Steven King, a 5-11, 260-pound DT from McGehee High School.
King was Hootens 3A Defensive Player of the Year, Outstanding Defensive Lineman 6-3A, first team All-Conference, and first team 3A All-State honoree.

Austin Nutt, a 6-1, 215-pound OLB from Fordyce High School.
Nutt was a two-time All-Conference honoree.

William Jackson, III, a 6-2, 195-pound QB from Drew Central High School.
Jackson was an All-Conference honorable mention.

Teveon Perkins, a 6-0, 165-pound WR from Hot Springs Lakeside High School
Perkins was a two-time All-Conference and 2012 All-Garland County honoree.

Zach Calhoun, a 5-11, 180-pound DS from Cabot High School
Calhoun helped lead Cabot to the second round of the 7A State Playoffs.

Byron Miller, 6-1, 175-pound  CB from Little Rock Central High School
Miller was team captain, three-time first team All-Conference and 2012 7A All-State honoree, and an AAA award recipient.

Wacey Connor, 5-11, 170-pound WR from Van Buren High School
Connor was a two-time All-Conference honoree in football and two-time All-State honoree in track.

Brett Courville, a 5-11, 205-pound QB from Central High School in Greenwell Springs, La.
Courville was a first team All-District, first team All-Metro, and second team 5A All-State honoree. He was a District and Metro MVP with 3,500 yards of total offense accounting for 32 touchdowns.

Hunter Darby, a 6-3, 255-pound DT from Erath High School in Erath, La.
Darby was team captain, a first team All-District, first team All-Parish and Best of Teche honoree.

Brendan Everage, 6-3, 200-pound TE from Evangel Christian High School in Shreveport, La.
Everage was a first team All-District honoree and helped lead his team to the state championship game.

Anthony Holmes, Jr. a 6-1, 190-pound OLB from Memphis Central High School in Memphis, Tenn.
Holmes was a two-time first team All-Conference honoree.

Jamie McGee, 5-9, 165-pound K/P from Barbe High School in Lake Charles, La.
McGeee was a first team All-District, first team All-Southwest Louisiana and first team 5A All-State honoree. He holds 14 of  his high school’s 15 kicking records.

Tyler Sparrow, a 6-1, 290-pound center from Catholic High School in Baton Rouge, La.
Sparrow was a first team All-District honoree.

Logan Woods, a 6-3, 260-pound OL from Barbe High School in Lake Charles, La.
Woods was a first team All-District honoree.

Michael Risner, a tightend from McGehee, was not listed on the UAM press release but McGehee coach Marcus Haddock confirmed Risner’s intent to play for the Weevils.
