Jacob Monroe Bishop, 23, of Monticello, formerly of Dumas, passed away on October 22, 2016 in Pine Bluff.
He was born on October 5, 1993 in Pine Bluff to John Edward Bishop Jr. and Carla Jean Sams Brainard.
Jacob was a member of Basically Church in Dumas, a 2012 graduate of Dumas High School and 2015 graduate of UAM with an Associate degree in Ag Business and BA in physical education. He loved sports, was always willing to coach young kids, from conditioning to prepare for the next year to batting practice. He was always there and happy to do it.
He is survived by his father, John Bishop Jr. of Dumas; his mother and stepfather, Carla and Meigs Brainard of Monticello; his paternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Lila Bishop and Dennis Freeman of Dumas; maternal grandmother, Elva Courtney of Halley; three brothers, Johnathan Bishop of McGehee, Jase Bishop of Dumas and Brannon Brainard of Monticello; and two step brothers, Nicholas and Patrick Brainard both of Pine Bluff.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, John E. Bishop; paternal great grandmother Erma Hoyt; maternal grandfather and grandmother, Calvin and Dora Irons; and two aunts, Rhonda Bishop and Amber Hackett.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 26 at First Assembly of God Church in Dumas from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 27, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Dumas with Rev. Dubs Byers and Rev. Scott Gilbreth officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Lake Cemetery.
