James C. Reed, 87, of Hamburg, died April 5, 2014 at the Pinewood Health and Rehabilitation Center in Crossett.
Mr. Reed was a native and life long resident of El Dorado having moved to Hamburg five years ago.
He was a veteran of the United States Army. He owned and operated Reed’s Body Shop for 40 years and he worked as a bus driver for the El Dorado School District for 20 years.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hamburg and a former member of the Westside Baptist Church in El Dorado. He was a former Sunday school teacher, Deacon and a Gideon and he loved to tell people about Jesus.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Lacy and Ray Murphy Reed and three brothers, Frank Reed Jr., John Murphy Reed and Ray Reed.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Rava Lee Reed of Hamburg; two daughters, Lequieta Endel and husband, Bob, of Hamburg and Jamie Badertscher and husband, Doug, of Bradenton, Fla.; two brothers, Louis Reed of El Dorado and Walter Reed of Lawson; three grandchildren, Reed Endel and wife, Hannah, of San Antonio, Texas, Courtney Harper of N. Chesterfield, Va. and Paul Badertscher of Sarasota, Fla.; four great-granddaughters, Morgan Boles, Marlee Boles, Mason Boles and Alex Rose Endel.
Funeral services will be held April 9 at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hamburg with Rev. Doug Badertscher and Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating.
Graveside services will be held April 9 at 2 p.m. at the Arlington Cemetery in El Dorado with Rev. Danny McIlveene.
Pallbearers are Clark Reed, Doug Reed, Andy Reed, Tommy Reed, Whit Reed and Randy Evers. Honorary pallbearers are Myrtle and Bobby Kilcrease and employees of the Kilcrease Home and employees of Pinewood Health and Rehabilitation Center.
