James “Cully” Gordon Culpepper, III, has left this world as of March 12, 2021, to be with his Lord and his loved ones who have gone on before him.
James was born on July 17, 1958, in Pine Bluff, the son of the late Dr. James Gordon Culpepper, Jr. and Dorothy Juanita Raymick Culpepper.
He was a graduate of Monticello High School and the University of Arkansas at Monticello. He worked for the USDA in Lake Village and later in Hamburg before becoming the executive officer of the Arkansas State Office of the USDA, Farm Service Agency.
Cully loved everyone and being able to help others. He was kind, compassionate, and had the most infectious laugh.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. & Mrs. J. G. Culpepper, Jr., and his infant brother, Charles Frederick Culpepper. James was also preceded in death by his in-laws, Donald and Imogene Vanderburg of Maumelle, Arkansas and his beloved brother-in-law, Darrell Vanderburg, also of Maumelle.
He is survived by his wife, Devonna Faye Vanderburg Culpepper; sister, Janis Marie Culpepper Sutton and husband, Kenneth Sutton of Rogers and one niece, Kathleen Jordan Robinson of Rogers.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 18, at First Baptist Church, 62 Pleasant Valley Drive, in Little Rock, Arkansas beginning at 10 a.m. with services beginning at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Riverwood Memorial Gardens at the corner of Carnahan Drive and Commerce Drive in Maumelle.
