James Edgar Simpson, 68, of Monticello, passed away on October 3, 2016 at his home in Monticello.
He was a Christian, of the Pentecostal faith, and a member of The Family Worship Center in Warren. He was a retired farmer for Reinhart Farms.
Mr. Simpson was born on January 2, 1948 in Drew County and was the son of the late Hollander “Shorty” Simpson and Erler Mae Barnett Simpson Langston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father Albert Langston and and a brother, Woody Simpson.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years Marjorie “Margie” Hill Simpson of Monticello; two sons, Samuel Hawkins and wife Deanna of Martin, Tennessee and Steven Hawkins and wife Kim of Durant, Oklahoma; a daughter, Tina Palmer and husband Charles of Monticello; three brothers, Clyde Simpson, Melvin Simpson, Henry Simpson and wife Sheila all of Monticello; one sister, Ollie Simpson Carter of Monticello; 12 grandchildren, Tyler, Arayna, Jesse, Alexander, Devin, Steven, Kasidy, Brittney, Madilynn, Tonya, Dayton and Stephan; one great granddaughter, Alex; and numerous, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be held on October 7 at 11 a.m. at The Family Worship Center in Warren. Visitation will be held on October 6 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello.
