James H. “Pete” Ashcraft, Sr., 73 of Dumas, died June 14, 2014 at Cornerstone Hospital in Jacksonville.

He was born June 14, 1941 in Wells Bayou to the late William Hogan and Beulah Katherine Hoyt Ashcraft. He was a Paratrooper for the United States Army and worked for Southern Pacific and in construction.

Also preceding him in death were 3 sons, Ronnie Lynn Ashcraft, Bruce Allan Ashcraft and Christopher Lamar Ashcraft.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Mead Ashcraft of Dumas; three sons, James H. Ashcraft, Jr. of Redfield, Dwayne W. Ashcraft of San Antonio, Texas and Donnie Ashcraft of Star City; a daughter, Rhonda Kay Ashcraft of Mexicali, Mexico; three brothers, W.H. Ashcraft, Jr. of Pine Bluff, Jerry Wayne Ashcraft of Pine Bluff and Winfred Ashcraft of England; two sisters, Jane Glover of Pine Bluff and Irma Jean Milholland of Junction City, La.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held June 18 at 2 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City with Bro. Don Borland officiating.
