James Hershel Shipman, 81, of Star City passed away December 6, 2020 at his home.
He was born December 28, 1938 in Wilmar to the late Edward Hollis and Geneva J. Hendon Shipman.
Mr. Shipman was a member of New Home Missionary Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed being a grandpa, attending sporting events and cheering for his grandchildren. He enjoyed the fellowship of the brothers of the church. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Shipman retired from Viking Bag as a machine operator.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Janet Mitchell; two brothers, Edward Shipman and Carol Shipman; four sisters, Verna Prince, Martha Trawick, Edna Hardin, and Wyama Via.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Shipman of Star City, two sons, Hershal Shipman (Amanda) of Plot Knob, Missouri and James Thomas Shipman of Honolulu, Hawaii; daughter, Vonda Cullins of Star City; a sister, Jo Ann “Pat” Green of North Arkansas; 10 grandchildren, James, Brian, Matthew K, Melissa, Jana, Amy, Rikki, Sydney, Jacob and Dillon, and 15 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday December 9, at 10 a.m. at Hickory Grove Cemetery near Star City with Bro. Joseph Pemberton officiating. There will be no formal visitation.
