James Howard Deal

James Howard Deal, 76, of Crossett, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018.

He was born on June 1, 1941, in Hamburg and was the son of the late Abner Guy and Alyce Marie Jones Deal.

Mr. Deal was a 1959 graduate of Hamburg High School, a member of South Crossett Missionary Baptist Church and former member of Pine Forest Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school for many years. He was a self-employed painting contractor who owned Deal Painting Co. for more than 40 years and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time at Lake Chicot with his family and friends.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who loved the Lord Jesus Christ and was very thankful for his personal relationship with him. Whether it was a family member, someone he knew for years, or a total stranger he would proudly share his testimony and say that without a doubt, he was confident with his salvation and that he knew where he would be going when he passed away.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in deaht by a son, Jason David Deal; a daughter, Dana Ridener; a brother, Harold Deal; and two sisters, Jolane Crouch and Sibyl Hutts.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Mercer Deal of Crossett; a daughter, Angie Deal Meadows of Crossett; three grandsons, Brandon Wise and wife, Alyssia, of Crossett, Nick Meadows and wife, Kayla, of Bentonville, and Golden Chance of Crossett; one granddaughter, Justine Ridener Reeves and husband, Zach, of Cabot; three sisters, Linda Stephenson, of Hamburg, Rosemary Martin, of Crossett, and Martha Pennington, and husband, Bruce, of Milo; and one brother, Jerry Deal of Crossett; along with several great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 7 at 2 p.m. at Medders Funeral Home Chapel, 1564 Hwy 52 W, in Crossett with Bro. Don Justice officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
