James Kelly Sawyer, 88, of McGehee, died September 22, 2014 at McGehee Desha County Hospital.
Mr. Sawyer was retired from Lucky Chevrolet in McGehee. He was a member of First Baptist Church of McGehee where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was a sports enthusiast, never too far from the town’s ballparks or basketball courts.
Mr. Sawyer was born November 20, 1925 in Harrison to the late John C. and Ola Sawyer.
Survivors include his wife, Mae Sawyer of McGehee; a son, John C. Sawyer and wife Sook of San Francisco, California; daughter, Anne Stuart and husband Tommy of McGehee; a sister, Bobbie Pynes of Little Rock; grandsons, Kane Stuart of Sherwood, and Anson Stuart of Lonoke; four great-grandchildren and a host of friends.
There will be no formal services. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service of McGehee.
