James Shelby Hunt 82, of McGehee, passed away on November 7, 2015 at McGehee.
He worked as an auto mechanic until June of 2015 and served as “the voice of Southeast Arkansas” for almost 40 years at KVSA. He was a member and a deacon of the Hopedale Missionary Baptist Church in Winchester.
Mr. Hunt was born at Judsonia on July 12, 1933 and was the son of the late Henry Lanson and Mary Hicks Hunt.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three sons, Mark Hunt, David Hunt, and Michael Hunt.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred Hunt of McGehee; daughter, Linda Tedder and her husband, Loyd of Dumas; granddaughters, Kim Wilkins Williams and her husband, Aaron of Dermott and Melanie Wilkins Harvey and her husband, Russell of Dumas; great-grandchildren, A.J. Williams of Dermott, Heather Greenlee of Pine Bluff and Kirk Harvey of Dumas; and great-great granddaughter, Carly Greenlee of Pine Bluff.
Visitation will be held on November 10 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee.
Funeral services will be held on November 11 at 2 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service Chapel in McGehee, with Aaron Williams and Andy Williams officiating. Burial will be at Hopedale Cemetery in Winchester.
