James W. Carpenter, 61, of Hamburg, died on July 1, 2016 at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett.
He was a farmer and worked for Ladd Farms for a number of years. He loved working on the farm and working for the Ladds. He also loved to hunt and fish.
Mr. Carpenter was preceded in death by his father, Willie Carpenter; three half brothers, Waymond, Jimmy and Doyle Carpenter; his grandparents, Richard and Florence Boykin Carpenter and Tom and Lena Pittman Bozeman.
He is survived by his son, Justin Carpenter and wife, Haley, of Hamburg; a daughter, Jennifer Carpenter of Dewitt; his mother, Maxie Bozeman Carpenter of Hamburg; three brothers, Willie Mac Carpenter and Charles Carpenter and wife, Donna, all of Hamburg, Haskell Carpenter and wife, Rita, of Crossett; four grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on July 3 at 2 p.m. at Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home with Bro. Jamie Coulter officiating. Burial will be at the Promise Land Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Adam Westmoreland, Melissa Westmoreland, Richard Carpenter, Thomas Carpenter, Jason Carpenter and Keith Ladd. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Carpenter, Haskell Carpenter, Willie Carpenter, David Ladd, Reggie King and Terry Stephens.
