James Walton Davis, Sr., 83, of McGehee, passed away December 23, 2021.
He was born in Jackson, Mississippi on December 24, 1937 to the late Wallace and Lyonne Latham Davis.
J.W. was a graduate of McGehee High School and a supervisor at Potlatch for many years before retiring. He formerly worked as a car salesman in Georgia before moving to Arkansas.
J. W. was very active with Alcoholics Anonymous in South Arkansas, helping many people recover from alcoholism. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and going to the beach. He was a member of First Baptist Church of McGehee.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly Davis and his daughter, Debbie Brooks.
Survivors include his daughters, Lori (Tom) Wilkins of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Darlene (Russ) Smelcer of Atlanta, Georgia, and P.J. Cruse of Rogers; sons, James Walton (Wendy) Davis, Jr. and Joe Davis of McGehee; seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 4, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 5, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in McGehee, with Rev. Rick Miller officiating. Burial will follow at McGehee Cemetery.
