James Wooley Russell, 88, of Crossett, passed away on March 26, 2021.
He was born on August 8, 1932 in Strong, Arkansas to Curvie Lee and Grace Russell.
Mr. Russell was a member of First Baptist Church of Crossett. He served his country for four years in the United States Navy and retired from Georgia Pacific where he worked as a bleach plant operator.
Mr. Russell loved to sit on his patio surrounded by his daughters and grandchildren. His family enjoyed many trips together to Branson, Missouri and the beach. He was always busy doing yard work and cleaning his vehicles. He was passionate about woodworking and handmade dollhouses for many little girls in Crossett. He also made wooden serving trays with his dear friend, Jackie Burchfield.
Mr. Russell was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of fifty-five years, Marjorie Johnson Russell and an infant brother.
His memory will forever be cherished by his two daughters, Jan Babb (Johnny) and Cheryl Carter (Keith), both of Crossett; four granddaughters, Lauren Carlson (Chase), Hannah Rice (Gage), Madison Carter and Katie Lynn Carter; three great grandsons, Conner Carlson, Ridge Rice and Chanlor Carlson who is due in June along with many friends and loved ones.
A Celebration of Life Service will held Monday, March 29, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Crossett with Bro. Jamie Staley officiating. Visitation begins one hour prior to the service, at 1 p.m. at the church.
Interment is in Crossroads Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Johnny Babb, Keith Carter, Chase Carlson, Gage Rice, Hunter Logan and Steve Courson. Honorary Pallbearers are Jackie Burchfield, Claude Spainhour, Bill Phillips and Tommy Hooks.
