Jeff Leonard Nichols, Jr., 92, of Springdale, formerly of Dumas, departed this life November 14, 2019.
Mr. Nichols was a member and a deacon of First Baptist Church in Dumas where he was very active in the church for as long as his health permitted. He was co-owner of Nichols Food Market in Dumas for 32 years. He served in the United States Army during WWII.
His lifelong hobbies included fishing with his brother and flying his single engine airplane with his wife, Kathryn, to lots of scenic places. He and Kathryn also enjoyed many trips around the country with their church group.
Mr. Nichols was born on November 27, 1926 at Blackwell, Arkansas, and was the son of the late Jeff Leonard Nichols, Sr., and Annie Marvel Harrington Nichols. His parents and brother, Forrest Nichols, preceded him in death.
Survivors are his loving wife of 74 years, Kathryn “Katie” Nichols of Springdale; daughter Linda Watts of Springdale; and grandson Christopher Louis Watts of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Visitation and services will be held on Monday, November 18, at the First Baptist Church in Dumas. Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m. with Rev. Dubs Byers officiating. Interment will be at the Walnut Lake Cemetery.
