Jerry Don Savage, 70, of Fountain Hill, died on July 28, 2016 at the Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
He was a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Vietnam era. He worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years and was a member of the Fountain Hill United Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was always ready to help people in need.
Mr. Savage was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Sallie Durey Savage; three brothers, Orrel, J.C., and Boyd Savage; three sisters, Vada Moses, Elroy Kirkland and Nancy Shaver; his mother and father-in-law, Harrison and Hortence Shaver; two brothers-in-law, Sonny and Buddy Shaver and a sister-in-law, Margaret Oliver.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Dollie Jean Shaver Savage; a daughter, Tammy Allison and husband, Jason, all of Fountain Hill; a son, Carlton Savage and wife, Shelly, of Conway; three brothers, Lyance “Bo” Savage and Eddie Dean Savage both of Hamburg and Lawrence Savage of Maplevale; two sisters, Jackie Brooks and Chryl Slocum both of Fountain Hill; three grandchildren, Jaci Terry and husband, Toby, Brendon Savage and Bryce Savage and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends on July 29 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Fountain Hill United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held on July 30 at 3 p.m. at the Fountain Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Boyd Savage officiating. Burial will be in the Flat Creek Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Rocky Savage, Ricky Savage, Eddie Savage, Jr., Bobby Maxwell, B.J. Vail and Billy Edwards, Jr.
