Jerry Lynn Crook, 76, of Monticello, passed away on May 14, 2016 at his home.
He was a retired lieutenant for the Monticello Police Department where he was in charge of radio operators for 29 years and 6 months. He was a Mason and was a member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Crook was born June 2, 1939 in Drew County, to the late Charles Crook and Blanche Sawyer Crook.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Cynthia Lynn Carpenter; one brother, Henry Crook; and two sisters, Edith Hays and Charlene Waymire.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, LaVerne Scott Crook of Monticello; a son, Terry Crook of Monticello; two grandsons, Jerry Richard Cater and John A. “Alex” Crook both of Monticello; one granddaughter, Amanda Nicole Cater of Monticello; a sister-in-law, Oledia Crook of Monticello; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service with Masonic Rites will be held on May 16 at 2 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
