Jewell Etta Sledge, 84, of Dermott, died on July 15, 2015.
Mrs. Sledge was a private duty nurse for more than 50 years. She enjoyed taking care of others, quilting, sewing, reading, and working in her garden.
She was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Dermott.
Mrs. Sledge was born at McGehee on June 22, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Archie Clyde and Dora Annabell Miles Cash.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert “Gube” Sledge, Sr.
Survivors include her sons, Hubert F. Sledge, Jr. of Wassila, Alaska, John Sledge and his wife, Kelly of Benton, and Randy Sledge of Dermott; daughters, Judy Brisby and her husband, William of Crossett and Penny Isbell and her husband, Gil of Dallas, Georgia; sisters-in-law, Sue Cash of McArthur, Arkansas and Trigg Brannon of Monticello; sisters, Donnie Fowler of Dermott and Annie Taylor and her husband, Melvin of Crossett; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be July 17 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service in McGehee.
Graveside services will be held on July 18 at 10 a.m. at Dermott Cemetery in Dermott with Revs. Jody Gannaway and Travis White officiating. A celebration of Mrs. Sledge’s life will be held on July 18 at 11 a.m. at Temple Baptist Church in Dermott.
