Jimmy Butler, 69, of Selma, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in Monticello, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on November 28, 1948 in Dermott and was the son of the late Varthur Butler and Reese Lucas Butler.
Mr. Butler attended school in Dermott and was a member of Oak Grove A.M.E. Zion Church in Selma. He had a big heart and loved helping people. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and watching westerns.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Butler was preceded in death by three sisters, Judy Barnes Merritt, Jane Barnes, and Tranie M. Barnes; and two brothers, J.T. Williams and Willie Troutman.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Shirley Williams; two daughters, Casandra Gossit Ware (Bob Ware) of Tillar and Demetria Michelle Thomas of Alabama; two stepchildren, Antranette Byrd, of North Little Rock and Johnny Reed of Dermott; his grandchildren; his four sisters, Eddie Mae Butler, Jewel (Willie) Taylor, Charledean (Frank) Daniels and Lexia (Curtis) Lucas; four brothers, J.B. (DeLois) Butler, Richard (Brenda) Barnes, Edward Butler and Joe Lewis Butler; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends; and two special in-laws, Alice Ruth Brown and Olivia Brown, that he loved to visit with.
A funeral service wille be held on Friday, April 6 at 11 a.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Selma.
