Jimmy Clyde Tooke, 91, of Star City, passed away May 18, 2022 at his home.

He was born August 26, 1930 in Cleveland County to the late Clyde and Myrtle Byrd Tooke.

Mr. Tooke was a member of Southside Baptist Church and a retired welder for Central Moloney. He was ordained as a minister in 1954, loved gardening and fishing. He was fostered and raised by the Idas and Lillian Vinson Family.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, James Douglas Tooke; three brothers, Clem Tooke, Buck Tooke, and Voy Tooke; and a sister, Ela Ashcraft.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Neely Tooke of Star City; son, David (Vicki) Tooke of Sheridan; daughter, Nina Tooke of Sheridan; five grandchildren, Brandy (Greg) Haley whom him and Joyce raised, Denise (Chris) Roberts, Chris (Shawan) Jordan, Nicole (Gary) Berry and Clayton (Danielle) Alkire; 15 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 22, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the Griffin Funeral Home in Star City, followed by funeral services at 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Allen Hagood, Jessie Doss, and Bro. Jarrod Pettit will officiate.

Burial will be at Prosperity Cemetery in Cleveland County.

Pallbearers are Chris Roberts, Greg Haley, Hunter Haley, Nicolas Haley, Brody Tubbs and Chris Jordan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Southside Baptist Church, Po Box 545, Star City, AR 71667.
