JoAnn G. Sullivan

JoAnn G. Sullivan, 90, of Hamburg, died February 2, 2022, at Stonegate Villa Health and Rehabilitation in Crossett.

Mrs. Sullivan was a 1949 graduate of Hamburg High School and a graduate of Arkansas A&M (University of Arkansas at Monticello). She retired from teaching in 1993 after teaching five years at Portland and 34 years at Hamburg.

Mrs. Sullivan was a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher, the church librarian, and past president of the Ladies Lois Circle. She was the past secretary and treasurer of the Promise Land Cemetery Association for over 20 years, a member of the Promise Land Rural Community Improvement (R.C.I), and was on the Board of Directors of the Ashley County Conservation District.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Joe Mack Sullivan in 2007; her parents, Alfred H. and Jessie Machen Gulledge; a sister, Elizabeth Gulledge Hawthorne; two brothers, James Alfred Gulledge and Noble F. Gulledge and her in-laws, Barney and Velma Sullivan.

She is survived by her son, Jimmy Mack Sullivan and wife, Johnette; her granddaughter, Wendy Sullivan Hale and husband, Cody; two great-grandsons, that she thought could do no wrong, Gatlin Hale and Jace Hale; her special friend, Faye Wallace, all of Hamburg; three nieces and two nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 5, at 2 p.m. at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Josh Luellen and Bro. Trey Emory officiating. A private burial will be in the Promise Land Cemetery.
