JoAnne Swaithes Dreher, 80 of Grady and Hot Springs, passed away on December 4, 2021 at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs.
She was born February 5, 1941 in Richmond, Mssouri to the late Earl E. and Grace M. Reece Swaithes.
JoAnne was a 1959 graduate of Star City High School, where she was a cheerleader. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hot Springs and was an associate member of First United Methodist Church in Star City. She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for Round Lake Planting Company, a member of the Garden Lovers Club in Star City for many years, and the Grady Women’s League for many years.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, David Swaithes.
Survivors include her husband, who she started dating in 1958 and later married on January 6, 1962 at the First Baptist Church in Star City, Morris “Jit” Dreher of Grady and Hot Springs; two sons, Jimmy (Nancy) Dreher of Grady and Paul (Stacy) Dreher of Star City; two brothers, Gene (Koleda) Swaithes of Garland, Texas and Marvin (Karen) Swaithes of Reno, Nevada; five grandchildren, Ashely Dreher (Drew) Gardner of Cordele, Georgia, Gil (Amy) Dreher of Star City, Shelby Dreher (Ben) Sandefur of Cordele, Georgia, Hannah Dreher of Star City, and Haley Dreher (Landen) Burns of Star City; and six great-grandchildren, Emberlyn Dreher, Millie Drew Gardner, Elly Gay, Winn Thomas Gardner, Paul Ander Burns, and Easton Dreher.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 10, at 1 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Chapel in Star City with Bro. Scott Gallimore officiating. Visitation is Thursday, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at at Drake Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Johnny Dozier, Al Fava, Jack Jackson, James West, Ben Sandefur, and Drew Gardner. Honorary pallbearers are Landen Burns, James R. Sims, John Tyson, Evan Gray and John Curtis Jackson.
