Joe H. Griffith, Jr., 74, of Monticello, passed away on September 27, 2018, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock.
He was born on January 25, 1944 in Monticello to the late Joe H. Griffith, Sr. and Pauline Creighton Griffith.
Mr. Griffith retired as President of L. D. Long, Inc. in 2012, served in the United States Army National Guard where he was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis in September of 1961 and served until 1965. He was a member of Second Baptist Church where he served on the personnel committee.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffith was also preceded in death by his first wife, Donna Long Griffith and his daughter, Niki Griffith Morgan Barnes; two brothers, Napoleon “Don” Griffith and Winfred Griffith; and one sister, Irene Lanphear.
Survivors include his wife, Gay Hoover Rabb Griffith of Monticello; a granddaughter, Randa Morgan of Ft. Smith; a grandson, Jay Morgan and wife Jacky of Monticello; a brother, Gary Griffith of San Antonio, Texas; two step-daughters, Jodi Rabb Ortner and husband Robert of Jackson, Mississippi and Lara Rabb Knott and husband Steve of Mena; a step granddaughter, Taylor Ortner; a step grandson, Kaleb Ortner and wife Savannah all of Jackson, Mississippi; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 29, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13 at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Children’s Hospital or the Second Baptist Church Building Fund.
