Joel Dale Burchfield, 74, of Greers Ferry, formerly of Dermott, passed away November 4, 2013 at his residence.
He graduated from Dermott High School where he was involved in ROTC. He served with the National Guard during Little Rock Central High crisis. He Burchfield served for over 15 years in law enforcement with the state police and several local police departments.
He was born in Dermott to Pauline Reppond Burchfield and the late Clyde Burchfield.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Cooper Burchfield and two brothers, Gail Burchfield and Jerry Burchfield.
Survivers include wife Rhonda Burchfield of Greers Ferry; his mother, Pauline Burchfield of Halley; two sons, Lynn (Melissa) Burchfield of Washburn, Mo. and Kenneth (Robin) Burchfield of Fayetteville; a daughter, Dana Burchfield of McGehee; a step-son Danny (Heather) Matthews of Pensacola, Fla.; step-daughter Vanessa Goodman, of Springfield, Mo.; a sister Annette (Troy) Gray of Halley; grandchildren, Bethany Burchfield, Brent (Sarah) Burchfield, Emily (Jamie) Hayworth, Tyler Burchfield, and Logan Burchfield; great grandson Forrest Burchfield.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013 at Griffin-Culpepper Funeral Service.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, November 8, 2013 at Halley Baptist Church with Bro. Gene Gregory officiating. Burial will follow at Halley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Arkansas Childrens Hospital at 800 Marshall St., Little Rock, AR 72202 or Halley Cemetery Association in care of John Hite at 1035 Hwy 159 South, Dermott, AR 71638.
