The Joey Logano Foundation recently awarded the Alex Foundation a $5,000 grant to support its STE+AM Program.

STE+AM, an acronym for science, technology, engineering (plus) art, architecture and math, is designed to give students a jumpstart on attaining 21st century skills needed to compete in the global economy.

Taught by university professors of architecture and registered architects, the Alex Foundation’s one-week STE+AM program is currently offered to 8th and 9th grade students attending public schools in Southeast Arkansas (Chicot and Desha counties) and Central Arkansas (Pulaski County).

McKinley Thomas, board president of the Alex Foundation, said funding from the Joey Logano Foundation will help to support the expansion of the STE+AM Program to high school students.

“The Alex Foundation is honored for our partnership with the Joey Logano Foundation to support our STE+AM expansion goals,” Thomas said. “Their generous gift will allow us to give students an integrated approach to architecture and the built environment. With their support, high school students will be able to work in their communities using architecture and design with building while obtaining skills that are transferrable to careers in demand.”
