John C. Jeffers, 65, of Hamburg, died August 20, 2014 at his residence.
Mr. Jeffers was a native and life long resident of Hamburg. He graduated from Fountain Hill High School in 1967. He worked for the Georgia-Pacific Corporation for 40 years and retired in 2006. He was a member of the Hollis Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jill Taylor Jeffers and his father, Woodrow Jeffers.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Carolyn Slaughter Jeffers of Hamburg; two sons, John Paul Jeffers and wife, Ginger, of Monticello and Clint Jeffers and wife, Mandy; a daughter, Niki Hicks and husband, Chris; his mother, Bonita Fairchild Jeffers; three brothers, Gary Jeffers, James Jeffers and Larry Jeffers all of Hamburg; three sisters, Janett Jones of Fountain Hill, Mary Ivey and Virginia Bowman both of Hamburg; eight grandchildren, Garrett, Grant, Joanie, Jay, Ace, Ali, Belle and Christopher and a host of nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held August 23 at 10 a.m. at the Hollis Chapel Memory Garden with Bro. Josh Carver officiating. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
Visitation is August 22 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
