John Luther Parkerson, Sr., 87, of Crossett, passed away on November 12, 2015 at his residence.
He was retired from Georgia Pacific Paper Mill where he was responsible for the maintenance of the air compressors. He enjoyed hunting and traveling in his RV. He was generally busy with a project all the time.
Mr. Parkerson was born on February 29, 1928 at Snyder and was the son of the late Dennis and Geraldine Austin Parkerson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Hale.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Christine Jordan Parkerson of Crossett; a daughter, Susan Hamilton and husband, Scott of Monroe, Louisiana; a son, John L. Parkerson, Jr. and fiancée, Ann Chadwick of Big Flat, Arkansas; two sisters, Christine Mhoon and Wille Jo Wallace, both of Harlingen, Texas; a brother, Jimmy G. Parkerson and wife, Janice of Dermott; a special friend, Eddie Brown and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held on November 15 at 2 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Keith Boseman officiating. Interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday at Jones Funeral Home.
