John W. “Joe” Martar, 72, of Eudora passed away at his home on July 21, 2017.
He was the owner and founder of Martar Construction in Lake Village and a member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
Mr. Marter was born on July 10, 1945 at Wilmot to the late John Wesley Marter, Sr. and Bessie Mae Nowlen Martar.
He loved having cook-outs and spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly. His other passions included hunting and cheering on his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Marter was preceded in death by five brothers, R.L., Hewie, John, Carl, and Thomas Martar and one sister, Marteel Sammons.
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Linda Dalton Martar of Eudora; three sons, David Martar and his wife, Andie, of Lake Village, Jeff Martar of Eudora, and Jason Martar and his wife, Amber, of Greenville, Mississippi; a daughter, Jamie Lynn Martar Jones and her husband, Dusty, of Little Rock; two brothers, Bill Martar of Eudora and Gene Martar and his wife, Vaunda Martar of Kilbourne, Louisiana; a sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Smith and her husband, Harold “Cracker” Smith; nine grandchildren, Nathan Martar, Julia Clare Martar, Jason Zane Martar, Jack Martar, Emma Kate Jones, Shelby Marie O’Fallen, Bailey Palmer, Aiden Pierce, and Jayce Formigoni, and one great-grandchild, River Jakob Webb, and a host of family, friends, and extended family that loved him and will miss him dearly.
Visitation will be from held on Monday, July 24, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Bishop-King Funeral Home in Lake Village. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 25, at 10 a.m. the funeral home with internment to follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora.
