Johnny Ray Tanksley, 72, of Parkdale, died on August 27, 2016 at his residence.
He was a farmer and a member of the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. He was an avid gardener and was a friend to everyone and helped anyone who needed him.
Mr. Tanksley was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Sue Smith Tanksley; an infant son and daughter; a stepson, Larry Armstrong; his parents, Charles and Marteal Ricks Tanksley; and a brother, Charles “Buddy” Tanksley.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Smith Armstrong Tanksley of Parkdale; a son, John David Tanksley; stepon, Michael Armstrong and wife, Linda, all of Crossett; a stepdaughter-in-law, Terry Ruth Armstrong of Eudora; a brother, Robin Tanksley and wife, Kim, of Springdale; a sister, Helen Elmore Land and husband, Sammy, of Montrose; a sister-in-law, Kathy Nelms Tanksley of Hamburg; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on August 30 at 10 a.m. at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home Chapel in Hamburg with Bros. Ricky Pack and Ronnie Pack officiating. Burial will be in the Parkdale Cemetery. Visitation will be August 29 from 6-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are Ryan Elmore, Lee Martin, Michael Don Martin, John Paul Kelley, Frank Atkinson and Gerald Armstrong. Honorary pallbearers are Bobby Powell and J. J. Elmore.
